The Enia Backing SystemTM is a high performance backing used for Enia TecsomTM carpet tiles and Enia CaretexTM two meter width broadloom. It consists of two calendered sheets of 100% recycled vinyl (1) which are connected by a non-woven glass fiber reinforcement (2) and glued onto the pile (4) using hot melt (3).

Thanks to this backing, TecsomTM and CaretexTM products never indent, tear or break and own a number of other exceptional and unbeaten advantages:

- Dimensional stability and robustness: The Enia Backing SystemTM has simply the best dimensional stability on the market (EN 986, < 0.1 %). Dimensional stability means that there will be no shrinkage or extension of the backing due to temperatures and humidity variations, traffic, and maintenance. Hereby, gaps or dents between carpet tiles/lanes of broadloom are avoided.

- Simple and comfortable installation: A stable backing enables the installation of carpet tiles in same direction to create a broadloom effect. The compactness of the backing gives both tiles and broadloom an extremely flat laying behavior and allows comfortable loose lay installation. This is especially convenient where the flooring is placed and removed periodically (e.g. trade fairs).

- Great cleaning and hygienic properties: The Enia Backing SystemTM is non-permeable to fluids, which allows the removal of stubborn stains (using e.g. hot water extraction) and the disinfection of the carpet. These cleaning and hygienic properties allow our products to be used also in the fields of health and care.

- Highest possible comfort: Their solid backing gives TecsomTM and CaretexTM products a great resistance to heavy traffic and helps to absorb shocks. Because the backing remains a high level of flexibility in spite of temperature and humidity variations, it also provides a constant level of comfort in comparison to other, more rigid backings.

- Environmental Sustainability and Safety: The Enia Backing SystemTM is produced of 100% recycled vinyl for environmental sustainability. Because it does not participate to combustion, nor does it spread flames, it is self-extinguishing and supports the safety in any building.

Due to the special characteristics of polyamide 6.6 (Nylon 6.6) carpets made from Antron® carpet fibre are very hardwearing and give:

• Lasting good-as-new appearance
• Excellent resilience
• High wear resistance
• Good soil-repellent properties

In a carpet this means very good wear properties.

Carpets made from Antron® carpet fibre boast a number of outstanding characteristics. Thanks to the special features of polyamide 6.6 carpets are exceptionally hardwearing and highly durable.

This is expressed in three different ways:

• The outstanding resilience after static pressure means that an Antron® fibre pile can recover after chairs and furniture are moved, so that minimal impressions remain.
• Antron® fibre wear resistance helps to prevent fibre loss.
• Antron® fibre is resistant to compression and fibre deformation. This means that the carpet keeps its appearance for a long time.

Antron® polyamide 6.6 carpets retain their original height without noticeable wear and tear or loss of structure.

The hardness of the polymers is a decisive factor in how much dirt can adhere to the carpet.

Due to the high fibre crystallinity of the polyamide 6.6, all Antron® carpet fibres are so hard that it is difficult for soil particles to stick to the surface. This may explain reduced soil adherence and could help to remove dirt by vacuum cleaining.

There is a wide range of flame-retardant carpets made from Antron® carpet fibres. The classes of reaction to fire performance Bfl and Cfl according to EN 13501-1 (former B1 DIN 4102) are the highest possible categories for textile floor coverings. These classifications are more easily achieved with Antron® carpet fibre than with Polypropylene.

When people walk across a textile floor covering, no major electrostatic charge should be created. Antron® yarns contain fine, conductive polyamide fibres that protect against electrostatic charges throughout the life of the carpet.

When you choose a carpet made of Antron® carpet fibre, you will be providing lasting protection against noticeable electrostatic charges.

All types of Antron® carpet fibres and carpets are subjected to special tests that ensure good quality and wear properties.

Carpets bearing the Antron® brand name must meet special quality standards in terms of:

• Weight of pile
• Antistatic properties
• Appearance retention

The Antron® brand manufacturing and administration processes in Germany are certified according to ISO 9001.
